Warning Lamp Flickering problem has been reported
in Tata Sumo RTV (Spacio) Vehicles. As a counter measure we have now modified
15TR Regulator to part number 26928068B in which the sensing of the
Regulator, changed from +ve to "A"
Line.
The above modification has been implemented with effect from 24th
October 2000. The new Regulator to part number
26214795 could be easily identified as detailed below :
> WEEK CODE : 43 /2000 ONWARDS
> 2 LEADS INSTEAD OF 3 LEADS (RED LEAD DELETED)
To avoid Warning Lamp flickering in Sumo RTV (Spacio)
Vehicles with the existing Regulators (3 leads) already in the field
the following modifications are to be made in the connections. Please
find enclosed a detailed picture indicating the Existing Connection
and Modified connection with routing of Red Lead for your ready reference.
CONVERSION PROCEDURE
1. Remove the Alternator from the Vehicle.
2. Remove the Cover from the Alternator.
3. Un-Screw the Positive Terminal Nut and separate the Nut, Spring Washer
and Collar.
4. Remove the red load from the Positive Terminal.
5. Re-assemble the Collar, Spring Washer, Nut and tighter to Positive
Terminal.
6. Un-screw the Black Hex Head Screw anchoring the yellow lead.
7. Remove the yellow lead.
8. The Red lead tag is to be sandwiched between the Rectifier Field
Plate and Brush Box "A" Plate.
9. Position the Yellow lead tag above on the Rectifier Field Plate.
10. Tighten the black hex head screw to ensure that the yellow lead
and red lead tag are held in position.
11. Ensure that the black hex screw, yellow lead tag, rectifier field
plate, red plate tag are positioned intact over the brush box moulding
and are not loose.
12. Re-assemble Cover.
13. Mount the Alternator in the Vehicle and ensure that Warning Lamp
flickering does not appear.
